Peter Jackson Joyner, 70, of the 2300 block of Elliott Ave., died Feb. 7, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
Mr. Joyner, a laborer for 30 years, was born in Southampton County, Va., and was the widower of Flossie Joyner. He had retired from Eppinger and Russel and the Portsmouth School System.
Survivors include a son, Randolph Joyner of Suffolk; sisters, Virginia Porter, Carolyn Ford, Maratha Stevenson, Shirley Bradshaw, Lucy Eley, Ann Coles, Shelia Joyner and Lenana Stephenson; brothers, Otis Joyner, Ernest Joyner and Willie Joe Joyner; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Joyner; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Joyner; a son, George Benton; brothers, Eddie Joyner Sr. and Robert Joyner.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Serenity Funeral Home by the Rev. Antonio Stephenson. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Family and friends will assemble at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at 1916 Parker Ave. in Portsmouth for the procession to the funeral home.
