Maxine H. Ward, 71, of the 1500 block of Darren Circle died Feb. 8, 1997, in her home.
Born in Hertford, N.C., she was the widow of Nathaniel Ward Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, Celestine W. Twitty of Portsmouth; Patricia W. Veale of Suffolk; a son, Nathaniel Ward Jr. of Chesapeake; two brothers, Henry Hunter of Suffolk, Willie Hunter Sr. of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Thurman J. Twitty. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at the home of her daughter, 1430 Holt Drive, Portsmouth, where they will assemble for the service.
