I was angry when I read your Feb. 5 headline, ``Council says no to school board's $144 million list.''
The School Board and the City Council met on Feb. 4 to discuss the needs of Norfolk schools. Among the problems were ``leaky roofs, exposed wires, 75-year-old neglected school buildings.'' The library system and the Norfolk zoo also need money.
How can the council so easily say ``yes'' to an unwanted, $143 million sports arena and ``no'' to such truly important needs such as school buildings, education tools, library improvements and the zoo?
