Norman Earl Brantley, 70, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, in his residence.
Mr. Brantley was born in Manteo and was a retired building contractor. He served in World War II in the U.S. Marines as a sergeant with the First Division in the Far East. He was the son of the late Thomas and Winnie Gladys Meekins Brantley and the husband of Marlene Roberts Brantley.
Besides his wife, surviving are two sons, Greg Roberts and E. David Roberts, both of Nags Head; a daughter, Leslie A. Roberts of Kill Devil Hills; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Norman Dale Brantley, and a brother, Claude Brantley.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Meekins Family Cemetery, Sunnyside Road, Manteo, by the Rev. Charles Etheridge. Friends may join the family at Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Outer Banks History Center or a charity of choice.
