THOMAS E. HOFFLER SR.

Thomas Edward Hoffler Sr., 80, of the 4200 block of Raleigh Road, died Feb. 19, 1997, in a Portsmouth hospital.

A native of Hollister, N.C., he was the widower of Ione W. Hoffler. He was a Naval architecture technician of the design division for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, retiring with 36 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Bethany Baptist Church and a member of Atlantic Masonic Lodge (NU)2, Norfolk.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Edward Hoffler Jr. of Chesapeake and two granddaughters, Meredith R. Hoffler and Natalie M. Hoffler.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Gene V. Primm. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church.
