VIRGINIA BEACH Explorer collides with Va. Beach school bus

A Ford Explorer flipped three times after it was broadsided Wednesday by a city school bus.

Police said the driver of the Ford, whose name was not immediately released, apparently went through a red light while coming onto Princess Anne Road from Green Meadows Boulevard.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. The Ford's driver, a 67-year-old man, was taken to the trauma center at Virginia Beach General Hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening. Of the four students on the bus, which carries handicapped students, one received minor injuries. A driver's aide also received cuts and bruises.

The bus had just left Larkspur Middle School. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday evening. NORFOLK Slain woman's stolen pickup found in Norfolk

Virginia Beach police may have some new evidence to work with in their investigation of the murder of a woman whose body was found Tuesday morning in a Bayside apartment.

A pickup truck that was found missing from her home was found Wednesday in Norfolk.

Virginia Beach police received a Crime Solvers tip Wednesday that the red 1989 Ford Ranger pickup was in the 1200 block of Amelia St., just off Church Street in Norfolk.

Norfolk police were sent to the area and found the pickup at 8:45 p.m., said Beach police spokesman Lou Thurston. Beach detectives arrived at the scene to check the pickup, and it was towed to a secured location for a more thorough examination today.

The body of Charlene Belfield, 35, was found just before 11 a.m. at the Brandywine Apartments in the 5700 block of Trellis Arch near Lake Edward.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the case, and especially about anyone who may have been seen driving the pickup, call Crime Solvers at 427-0000. Callers do not have to identify themselves and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest. Pedestrian struck crossing street is critically injured

A 36-year-old man who was hit by a car Tuesday night was in critical condition in a hospital Wednesday, police said.

James L. Alexander of the 800 block of C Ave. was crossing Tidewater Drive in the 1300 block at 11:55 p.m. when he was hit by a car driven by a Portsmouth man.

Alexander was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with multiple injuries. 2 boys in hospital after fire in Young Park home
