Beatrice L. ``Shug'' Jefferson, 38, of the 100 block of Glenwood Drive died Feb. 15, 1997, in her home.
A nursing assistant at Manning Convalescent Home for two years, she was a Chesapeake native and a member and choir member at New Fellowship Baptist Church of Deliverance, Portsmouth. She was also a member of the beautification committee.
Survivors include a daughter, Shareena Jefferson of Portsmouth; three sons, Reginald L. Parker, David M. Bowers III and Aaron Jefferson, all of Portsmouth; father, Freddie L. Bryant Sr. of Chesapeake; six sisters, Larina D. Stith, Iris R. Mills and Tarnita Bennett, all of Portsmouth, Pamela Dorsey of Atlanta, Paula Jones of Washington, D.C., and Melvanda Bryant of Chesapeake; four brothers, Leonard M. Copes Jr. and Preston R. Copes, both of Hartford, Conn., Michael Bryant and Freddie Bryant Jr., both of Chesapeake; three grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Garden of Prayer No. 4, Marshall Avenue, Portsmouth, by Pastor Dallas Ellis and the Rev. Damon Hodges. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The family wil be at the home of the sister, Iris Mills, 2522 Bird Lane, Apt. B., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral.
