TONEY H. FOWLKES

Retired U.S. Navy MSC Toney Harrison ``Pop'' Fowlkes of the 2700 block of Bowden's Ferry Road died March 1, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Crewe, Va., he was a member of First Baptist Church Lamberts Point. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years service and was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lillian Fowlkes; four daughters, Barbara Martin, Shirley Harris, JoAnne Bryant, Pamela Miller, all of Chesapeake; four sons, Marvin Fowlkes of Virginia Beach, Chuck Fowlkes, Rodney Fowlkes, both of Norfolk, the Rev. Kenneth Fowlkes of Baltimore; a sister, Sally Jones of Crewe; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Toney Fowlkes Jr.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in First Baptist Church Lamberts Point by the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Thursday. The remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at 2710 Bowdens Ferry Road at 11 a.m. for the procession.
