Joe Clifton Warren, 77, of the 12100 block of Comet Road, died Saturday, March 8, 1997, in his residence.

Mr. Warren, a native of Surry County, was a farmer and member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley W. Burton and Barbara W. Snyder, both of Smithfield, and Patricia W. Gwaltney of Stuart, Va.; son, James W. Warren of Smithfield; three sisters, Mary W. Drudge and Rose W. Bailey, both of Chesapeake, and Sara W. Carter of Pantego, N.C.; brother, Samuel H. Warren of Smithfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 1997, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, by the Rev. John Jones. Burial will be in Mill Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, March 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
