WILLIAM E. HODGES

William E. ``Elcana'' Hodges, 79, of Autumn Care died March 7, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

He was a retired Williamston, N.C., native, and is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hodges of Virginia Beach; four daughters, Beverly Atkins of Oakland, Calif., Shirley Griffin of Virginia Beach, Charlene White of Portsmouth and Deborah Bell of Chesapeake; a son, William E. Hodges Jr. of Norfolk; three brothers, Melvin Hodges of the Bronx, N.Y., Calvin Hodges of Philadelphia and Alexander Hodges of North Carolina; grandchildren, Brian Bell, Anthony Bell, Maurice Bell, all of Chesapeake, Andre Hodges of Norfolk, Joshua Griffin II of Virginia Beach and Lewis C. White III of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Lena Hodges and Solomon Hodges.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Revival Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Courtney McBath. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. P.G. Thomasson Funeral Services is in charge. The family will be receiving friends for visitation at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
