GILBERT G. JOYCE

Gilbert George Joyce, 79, of the 1000 block of Hugo St., died Saturday March 8, 1997.

Mr. Joyce was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Newfoundland, Canada, the son of the late Thomas E. and Lavina Joyce. He married the former Thelma O'Neal who survives. Mr. Joyce was retired from the U.S. Army where he reached the rank of sergeant first class. After his retirement from active duty he worked as a civil service engineer.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Royal Victor Sundeen of Belhaven; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by a brother, Mac Joyce.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven, with a military chaplin officiating. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Belhaven and other times at the home of James and Kim Jones, 6402 N.C. Hwy 99 South, Belhaven. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
