On Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m., the Crestar Bank branch in the 200 block of Colonial Ave. was robbed.
A man passed a note to a teller demanding money. After receiving cash, he demanded money from other tellers. He then fled west on 20th Street.
The suspect is described as black with a dark complexion, 20, 5 feet 10 and 185 pounds. He had a mustache and was wearing glasses and a black hooded sweat shirt.
On March 4, the same bank was robbed just before noon. This robber produced a demand note, but fled toward 21st Street. A picture was taken of that suspect.
He is described as black, in his late 20s or early 30s, 5 feet 4 and about 140 pounds. He had short hair and a mustache and was wearing a black Nike hat, paisley shirt and baggy jeans. Suffolk 539-1222
On March 4, a 76-year old man was swindled and robbed in his home in the 3000 block of Nansemond Parkway.
Two thieves told the man they worked for Virginia Power and needed to inspect wiring in his house. After they looked around, they told him there would be a $50 fee to fix a problem.
He gave them the money. Then, while the victim spoke with one suspect, the other took cash from the man's house.
The victim lost all the money he had - more than $1,000.
The suspects are described as white. They were driving a dark-colored king-cab truck. Portsmouth 488-7777
On Feb. 21, about 9:30 a.m., the NationsBank branch in the 4000 block of Victory Blvd. was robbed.
Just after he entered the bank, a man jumped over the counter, forced a teller to move back and emptied cash out of the teller's drawer. He leapt back over the counter and ran out the front door.
He was last seen riding a bicycle toward the rear of Tower Mall and McLean Street. Investigators believe the suspect dumped the bike behind the mall and then fled in a blue Monte Carlo.
The suspect is described as black, in his middle 20s, about 5 feet 9 and 185 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a black sweat shirt. Chesapeake 487-1234
Between Feb. 14 and 15, Computer Systems International in the 2100 block of Smith Ave. was burglarized.
The front door was forced open and about $50,000 in computer equipment and the company van were stolen. The van was later recovered in the Berkley section. Virginia Beach 427-0000
On Dec. 30, about 11:15 a.m., the NationsBank branch in the 900 block of First Colonial Road was robbed.
A man gave the teller a note demanding money. After getting the money, he set off a tear-gas grenade and ran from the bank.
The robber is described as black, in his middle 20s, 5 feet 7, 135 pounds with a thin build.
He had a slight mustache.
He was wearing a black beret, a gray sweat shirt, gray jogging pants, white running shoes, burgundy gloves, sunglasses and was carrying a print design, large gift bag.
