L. BROUGHTON DESHIELDS

L. Broughton DeShields, 92, died March 15, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A former resident of the 4000 block of Deacon Lane, Virginia Beach, he made his home at The Village at Woods Edge retirement center for the past two years.

Mr. DeShields was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Blalock. He was a retired salesman for Willis Wayside Furniture Store, Virginia Beach. He was past president of Tidewater Antique Dealers Association. He was a Norfolk artist included among a dozen in the country as an expert in China Restoration, some of his work was done at the Chrysler Museum and the MacArthur Memorial. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in Holland-Rideout Funeral Home, Franklin. A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, by Dr. Alan Campbell of Hunterdale United Church of Christ. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
