AARON A. PARSONS

Aaron A. Parsons, 79, of the 1000 block of Norfolk Ave., died March 17, 1997, in Virginia Beach Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Parsons was a native of Princess Anne County and was retired from the Oceana Naval Air Station with 40 years of service. He was a member of Friends Meeting House, where he served as ``overseer.'' He was past chairman of the board of directors for S.T.O.P. (Southeastern Tidewater Opportunity Project), board of directors for Tidewater Health Care, and for Crime Solvers. Mr. Parsons was the recipient of the First Citizen of Virginia Beach Award in 1983. He was also a founding member and chief of the Seatack Fire Dept. and founding member of The Candii Program. Aaron was also a founder and was very active with the Tidewater Memorial Society, as well as a director for the Seatack Community Center and a past master of Oceana Masonic Lodge (NU)69.

He was the loving husband for some 57 years of Mary E. Parsons. He is also survived by a sister, Sarah P. Russell of Portsmouth; three godchildren, Eugenia W. Bowser of Virginia Beach, Terry Woodhouse of Chesapeake, Dianna Estes of Virginia Beach; a nephew, J. Lyle Cofield of Chesapeake. Mr. Parsons also leaves behind a host of loving and admiring friends.

A memorial funeral service will be held at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, at 2 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Parsons had expressed that his body be donated to medical science. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
