Eugene Lee Butt, 76, of Kempsville Road, died Tuesday, March 18, 1997, in a Chesapeake nursing home.
Mr. Butt was born in old Norfolk County and was the son of the late Kenneth P. Butt Sr. and Eva Temple Butt. He was the retired owner of Eugene L. Butt Printer, which he began in 1950. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, a charter member and past president of the Southside Lions Club; past president of the Tidewater Association of Printers, and he was an integral part of the committee that helped establish Chesapeake General Hospital. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen King Butt; his daughter, Margaret ``Peggy'' Richard of Chesapeake; two brothers, Albert T. Butt of Chesapeake, Kenneth P. Butt of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; his grandson, Philip Richard of Chesapeake; and a nephew, Kenneth P. Butt III of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Eye Bank Fund of the Southside Lions Club. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
