WEEKS M. COFER

Weeks Moore Cofer, 97, died March 17 at Manor Care Home in Richmond.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard S. Cofer, and is survived by her son, Richard S. Cofer Jr. and his wife, Marietta of Richmond; and by her daughter, Nancy C. Stacey of Norfolk. She had seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cofer and her husband opened Cofer's Inc. in 1926 and she remained active as an interior designer until her retirement in 1970. She was the first woman member of the American Institute of Designers in Virginia and the first woman to be elected to a Vestry in the Episcopal Church in Virginia. She was a past president of the Woman's Auxiliary of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Hermitage Foundation and the Norfolk Society of Arts. She was a founding member of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and a past member of the Princess Anne Country Club.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 22, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Charles Joy at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Any memorial donations should be made to the memorial fund of St. Andrew's Church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
