Charlie L. Munson, 70, of Kings Highway, died March 17, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he retired from Newport News SupShip and was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church, Nansemond Masonic Lodge (NU)77, Mount Horeb Royal Arch Chapter (NU)11 and Driver Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Edith W. Munson; a daughter, Jenny Barnes of Houston, Texas; a son, Tom Alan Munson of Suffolk; two sisters, Ruby C. Trent of Chesapeake, Adeline Miller of Newark, Del.; two grandchildren, Alex and Sarah Barnes.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Garland Hines. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Beech Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund.
