GEORGE H. VAUGHAN

George Herman Vaughan, known as Herman, 65, of the 100 block of Emancipation Drive, died March 16, 1997, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit.

A heavy equipment operator for the City of Newport News, he retired five years ago after 11 years on the job. He was a Mapleton, N.C., native.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Elaine Williams of Etonn, Ky., Marsheila Vaughan of Rosamond, Calif.; two sons, George Herman Vaughan Jr. of Dublin, Calif., Johnny Christopher Vaughan of Portsmouth; a brother, Euclid P. Vaughan of Mapleton, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Parker Grove Baptist Church, Mapleton, by the Rev. Hugene Fields. Burial will be in Parker Grove Baptist Church, Mapleton. Family and friends will assemble at 2901 King Arthur Circle, Camelot section, Chesapeake, at 1:30 p.m. Friday for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
