Emily Tidwell Bryant, 82, went to be with her Lord on March 22, 1997, in her residence.
A native of Nansemond County, Va., she was the widow of Marvin G. Bryant and the daughter of the late James Tidwell and Mallie Harcum Tidwell.
She had retired from F.W. Woolworth Co. and had actively farmed with her husband in years past. She was a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church.
She was predeceased by a son, James L. Bryant, and is survived by six children, Martha B. Racer Nellis of West Virginia, Joseph M. and Joyce Bryant of Suffolk, Walter Y. and Betty Bryant of Suffolk, Mary Frances and Edward Duncan of Powells Point, N.C., Louise B. and Louis Mathias Jr. of Corapeake, N.C. and Charles W. and Barbara Bryant of Suffolk; two sisters, Ella Sue T. Harrell and Helen T. Taylor, both of Suffolk; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. John R. Kimball and the Rev. Joseph A. Talley. Burial will be in Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at 144 Gene Ave., Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
