CORA E. BENDLER

Cora Elizabeth Bendler died on March 22, 1997 in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Mrs. Bendler was born in Appomattox, Va., on Aug. 23, 1909, the daughter of the late Joseph Otway O'Brien and Rachel McFarland Caldwell. She was the widow of Hiriam Harold Bendler. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, and retired from the Young Women's Christian Association.

Survivors include a sister, Rachel Virginia Sutcliffe of Topeka, Kan.; two nieces, Elizabeth Rachel Blocksome of Forest Lake, Minn., and Frances Annice Craddock of Durham, N.C.; four nephews, Joseph Martin Sutcliffe of Topeka, Joseph Neal O'Brien of Lynchburg, Va., Currie Milton Kellam Jr. of Asheville, N.C., and William Randolph Kellam of Atlanta; and a cousin, A. Judson Bush Jr. of Norfolk.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. J. Scottie Griffin. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home from 7 to 8 tonight for visitation. The family asks that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
