Two Churchland Middle School students were awarded bikes recently for their attendance records during the second grading period this year.
Allison Foster, left, a seventh-grader, and Roy Harper, right, a sixth-grader, won new bikes in a drawing coordinated by the school's principal, LaDaniel Gatling.
The school held two drawings - one for boys, one for girls. Each student who had missed no more than two days during the second grading period was eligible. The drawings included 576 names, Allison's and Roy's names were selected.
The bikes were paid for with money the school received through a federal grant. The grant, awarded to the school system, was aimed at improving attendance records. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
