CHARLES B. SMITH

Charles Burell ``Smitty'' Smith, 72, formerly of Norfolk, died April 1, 1997, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Paterson, N.J.

A self-employed chef, he was a native of Norfolk and a son of the late Osia Brown Smith and the late Henry E. Smith Sr. He was a past member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Paterson, and Integrity Lodge, Prince Hall F & A Masons, Jeremiah Chapter No. 13 R.A.M., Paterson.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Peggy Bonds; son, Wesley Bonds of Paterson; sister, Florence Smith Patterson of Norfolk; brother, Henry E. Smith Jr. of Norfolk; three grandchildren; a godson, Davyn Smith; five nieces, four nephews, three sisters-in-law; and his extended family, the Johnsons of Norfolk; a very special friend, Mrs. Laura Smith of Paterson.

He was predeceased by his parents, Osia Brown Smith and Henry E. Smith Sr.; a sister, Pinkey Smith-Faulcon; and two brothers, Dennis Smith and Selden Smith.

A funeral will be conducted Saturday, April 5, 1997, in Paterson by the Rev. James Solomon. Braggs Funeral Home, Paterson, is in charge. Information provided by Riddick Funeral Service, Norfolk. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
