Richard T. Alex, 88, of Galt St., went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 1997.
Born in Smithfield, Va., he served and retired from the U.S. Army.
He worked at the Norfolk Naval Base where he retired after 20 years. He worked and retired from Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Holiness USA where he served as chairman of the Deacon Board for over 50 years.
He is survived by three stepchildren, Captalin Anderson of Norfolk, Thelma V. Ragin of South Carolina, James Gay of Norfolk; a niece and nephew, Eloise Spratley, Charles Alex of Hampton; god children, Lenora and Lisa Drummond and Melisa Cuffee; and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at First Church of Christ Holiness USA, Princess Anne Road, at 11 a.m. Thursday. A wake will be held at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Libery St., from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be at the home on Galt St. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
