Junius A. Baysmore, 70, of the 800 block of Madison St. died April 6, 1997, in the home of his sister in Portsmouth.
A retired merchant seaman for the National Maritime Union, he also retired from the Blueprint Room of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard before becoming a merchant seaman. He was a Portsmouth native and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include three sisters, Rosa L. Gatling and Mary B. Pipher (Ernest), both of Portsmouth, and Eloise Baysmore of Ettrick, Va.; brother, Allison I. ``Baysie'' Baysmore of Waterbury, Conn.; aunt, Annie C. Whedbee of Waterbury; seven nieces; two nephews, five great-nieces; five great-nephews; and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Ben A. Beamer Sr. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth, with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon Thursday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at 2215 Atlanta Ave., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral procession to the church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
