Annie Mae Taylor, 79, of the 5800 block of Eric St., died April 7, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Born in Wilson, N.C., she was the widow of Robert Lee Taylor. She was a member of Union Bethel Church of God in Christ and the Missionary board. She was a church Mother and a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include a daughter, Carrie Clemons of Portsmouth; sister, Mildred Wright of New Jersey; son-in-law, Elder Andrew F. Clemons of Portsmouth; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Taylor of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a son, James Taylor.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday by Bishop Ted Thomas in New Community Church of God in Christ, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing will begin today from noon until 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 5803 Eric St. at 1:30 p.m. for the procession to the church. Serenity Funeral Home is in charge.
