JAMES D. SCOTT

James Dock Scott, 81, of Route 1, Dogwood Drive, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, in Portsmouth.

A native of Gadsden, Ala., he was retired from the Portsmouth Water Department as a pump operator. He was a member of Portsmouth First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances C. Scott; a daughter, Cathy Parker of Chesapeake; a stepdaughter, Janice Marie Swingle of Hertford; a son, James Larry Scott of Portsmouth; four stepsons, Woody, Tom and Rick Furlough of Maryland and Michael Furlough of New York; a sister, Ruby Nelson of Huntington Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Portsmouth First Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Nelson F. Fields. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today and will also be at 3913 North Road, Chesapeake. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
