State convention

May 1 in Chesterfield

The state unit of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference will hold its annual convention May 1 through 3 in Chesterfield County.

Speakers and moderators include actor Clifton Davis, news anchor Diane Walker and ACLU director Kent Willis. Events will take place at First Baptist Church in Centralia, at Sheraton Park South on Midlothian Turnpike and at Virginia State University.

Church of Christ

revival set April 28

The Ministers for Racial, Social and Economic Justice of the Eastern Virginia Association, United Church of Christ, will hold its annual revival April 28 through May 2 at Fellowship United Church of Christ, 1402 Gust Lane, Chesapeake.

Each night begins with a lecture on ``New Face of Mission: God in Our World'' at 6:30, followed by prayer meeting at 7:30 and worship at 8.

Choirs to perform

in Portsmouth

The Martin Luther Choir and Augsburg Bell Choir of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Md., will present a concert May 2 in Portsmouth. The concert will be at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 4811 High St. West, at 7:30 p.m.

Both groups are made up of high school students who are members of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Metro Washington, D.C., Synod.

The concert is free and open to the public; however, a free-will offering will be received.
