Ruth Joyner Olds, 78, of the 35000 block of South Quay Road, died Saturday, April 19, 1997, at Portsmouth General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. Olds Sr. Mrs. Olds was born in Hertford County, N.C., and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Franklin, and the usher board. She was employed by Georgia Pacific in Murfreesboro, N.C., and retired after 15 years. She was the daughter of the late Edith Whitehead and the late Dillard Riddick.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Parker and Margaret Murphy, both of Portsmouth; three sons, Albert Joyner and John L. Joyner, both of Chesapeake, and Melvin Joyner of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Marion Stephenson of Murfreesboro, N.C.; a brother, Ernest Riddick of Franklin; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Franklin, by the Rev. Robert E. Duck. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
