Emily Christine Koch, 20, died April 17, 1997, in Gainesville, Fla., following an automobile accident on March 14.
She was born in Naples, Italy, on March 16, 1977, and graduated from Radford High School, Hawaii in 1995. She was a student in the school of engineering and a third class midshipman in the Navy ROTC unit at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Emily was a joy and a blessing in the lives of her family and friends who love her.
She is survived by her parents, retired Cmdr. Dennis and Nancy Koch, and her brother, Brian Koch of Virginia Beach; grandparents, Milton and Marcella Schmidt of Littleton, Colo.; great-aunts and uncles, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach. In the Navy tradition, there will be a burial at sea on a U.S. Navy ship at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
