Kathryn Killam Porter, 96, of the 600 block of Redgate Ave., died April 23, 1997, at her residence.
Mrs. Porter was a native of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and moved to Norfolk at the age of 6. She was a graduate of Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. She was the widow of Dr. W. Arthur Porter and was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk. She helped to start the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences, which later became the Chrysler Museum. She was a member of the Chrysler Museum Glass Club, the Irene Lietch Society, the Hermitage Foundation, and the Garden Club of Norfolk. Mrs. Porter was also a past board member of Norfolk General Hospital, and a former member of the Princess Anne Country Club and the Town Point Club.
Survivors include three nieces, Sally A. Taylor of Center Harbor, N.H., Frances K. Isphording of Knotts Island, N.C., Elizabeth L. Killam of Portsmouth, Va.; her nephew, Harold B. Killam Jr. of Midlothian, Va.; 12 great-nieces and nephews and seven great-great-nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place in Nova Scotia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chrysler Museum or to Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Norfolk. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
