Beverly M. Owens, 71, died April 22, 1997.
Born in Portsmouth, he was the widower of Mary Alice Fulton Owens. Mr. Owens retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He was a past member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, and Arlington Masonic Lodge (NU)309 AF&AM, Jacksonville, where he served as chaplain of the lodge.
Survivors include three cousins, Helen Pamela M. Byrd of Suffolk, William B. Moore III of Alexandria, Va., Dennis M. Rogers of San Diego, Calif.; an aunt, Helen S. Moore of Portsmouth; a sister-in-law, Lois Ramseur, and mother-in-law, Mabel Fulton, both of Chesterfield, Va. He was predeceased by his parents, Marcus W. Owens of Portsmouth and Louise M. Chapman of San Diego, and his grandparents, William B. and Olivia Morgan Moore of Portsmouth.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Brian C. Hobden. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Fund.
