James Randolph of the 5400 block of Tidewater Drive died April 28, 1997.
He was the retired cook and owner of Randolph's Restaurant and a Chesterfield County native. He was a member of Second Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, and the usher board.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Drew Randolph; a daughter, Gerlean R. Anderson of Richmond; a son, A. Melvin Randolph of Norfolk; daughter-in-law, Barbara C. Randolph of Norfolk; son-in-law, David T. Anderson Jr. of Richmond; two brothers, Emmett Randolph and Matthew Randolph, both of Richmond; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Anna Randolph of Richmond, Delores Watson of Norfolk, Dorothy Owens of Rochester, N.Y.; brothers-in-law, Carlson Brown and Charles Brown, both of Philadelphia, Stanley Brown of Buffalo, N.Y., Osborne Owens of Rochester, N.Y.; a special cousin, Velma Haley of Norfolk; and other relatives and friends .
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Second Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Geoffrey B. Guns. Burial will be in Family Cemetery, Ivor. In place of floral donations the family has requested all donations be made payable to the Second Calvary Baptist Church building fund.
