WILLIAM H. BASNIGHT JR.

William H. ``Moose'' Basnight Jr., a firefighter for the City of Chesapeake for the past 12 years, passed Tuesday, April 29, 1997, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie `McDaniel'' Basnight; three sons, Jamal Lamar, Jermaine Leon and Jeremy Lashawn; a daughter, Jazmine Lynell, all of Norfolk; his mother, Delois B. Phillips; his sister, Ruth Lorraine Francis; brother-in-law, Larry Francis, all of Chesapeake; his aunt, Gladys Austin of Edenton, N.C., and an uncle, Fred Granby of Philadelphia. He has a host of other relatives and friends. He is also survived by a son, Brian Riddick of Virginia Beach.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is in charge. Family members may be received at 213 W. 36th St., Norfolk, and 1905 Buckland St., Chesapeake. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
