Jack Carroll Willis Sr., 77, died Thursday, May 8, 1997, at his residence.
Mr. Willis, a native and former resident of Ocracoke, N.C., was the retired owner and operator of Jack's Store in Ocracoke. Mr. Willis was a member of the Ocracoke United Methodist Church and a veteran, having served during World War II with the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late William G. and Masley Wahab Willis. Mr. Willis was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence McWilliam Willis, and his second wife, Annie-Belle Bowen Willis.
Mr. Willis is survived by two sons, Jack C. Willis Jr. of Ocracoke, N.C., and Jay Dee Willis of Syracuse, Utah; two stepsons, Larry Bowen of Windsor and Arthur E. Bowen of Frankfort, Germany; a brother, Sigma V. Willis of Ocracoke; a grandchild; six step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Ocracoke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Clyde Denny and the Rev. Allen Lovell. Burial will follow in Ocracoke Community Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his brother, Sigma Willis, Ocracoke.
