RICHARD RYSER

Richard Ryser, 65, a three-year resident of Melfa and formerly of Far Hills, N.J., died Thursday May 8, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Dr. Phillip William Ryser and Coletta Mahoney Ryser and retired as director of satellite operations for Roche Biomedical Laboratories, Raritan, N.J. He was a member of Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church, Onancock, Chesapeake Lodge (NU)158 AF & AM, Shriner Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies and Onancock Chapter O.E.S. He was a graduate of Brockport College and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bowker Ryser; children, Sandra Jones of Chesapeake, Cynthia Patterson of Lancaster, Calif., Sylvia Mosley of Jackson, Tenn.; sisters, Phyllis Ferris of Marshall, Ill., Judy Ryser of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers, James Ryser of Columbus, Ind., Raymond Ryser of Westerville, Ohio; stepmother, Sylvia Ryser of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Ryser of Westlake, Ohio.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Bellview Cemetery, Bells, Tenn. A memorial service will be held at Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18. Burial will be in Bellview Cemetery, Bells, Tenn. Williams-Onancock Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
