A major provider of physicians to hospital emergency rooms has agreed Wednesday to $7.75 million to settle allegations that it overcharged federal health care programs millions of dollars. The Justice Department said claims on EmCare's behalf were submitted to Medicare, Medicaid, the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and the military's CHAMPUS retiree health care program by Emergency Physicians Billing Services. The government alleged the service changed the codes of health care claims to reflect more expensive medical procedures and billed for more extensive services. KEYWORDS: SETTLEMENT
