JULIA B. BROOKS

Julia Burgess Brooks, 78, of Sentara Nursing Center died Monday, May 26, 1997, in her residence.

She was born in Capron, Va., and was the widow of Curtis T. Brooks Jr. She was a graduate of Capron High School, Colby Academy in New York City and was a veteran of World War II and the Women's Army Corps.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, the Southampton County Historical Society and the Westminster Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her two daughters, Marilyn B. Akers of Hampton and Emily B. Gogoll of Easton, Md.; brother, Page Burgess of Norfolk; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by another brother, Joseph Burgess of Wakefield.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ by the Rev. Robert E. Merritt Sr. Burial will be private in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home today from 7 to 8 p.m. for visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ Building Fund, 1600 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23517. Cox Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
