MORRISON A. WALKER JR.

Morrison Ainsley Walker Jr., formerly of Virginia Beach, 72, died June 6, 1997, in his residence.

Mr. Walker was a veteran of the Army and the Naval Reserve. He was a self-employed well driller and was a volunteer firefighter for 18 years at Station 4, Chesapeake Beach. He moved to Poplar Branch after retirement in 1988. He attended the Open Door Chapel.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Wayne Walker.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Walker; four daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and C.B. Knight Jr., Wanda and Don Solomon, Diane and Mike Weatherford, all of Virginia Beach, and Arleen and Thomas Barlow of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Barbara Avera of Walnut Island, N.C.; stepfather, E.J. Hunsinger of Virginia Beach; nephew, William E. Walker Jr., who took over his well-drilling business; a close cousin, Michael Ney of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel. A church service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Open Door Chapel, Virginia Beach, by Pastor Fritz Stegemann. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norfolk. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday in Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Grandy, by the Rev. Thomas R. Tarkenton for those in North Carolina who cannot attend services in Virginia Beach.
