Susan Moore Sheffield, 52, died June 7, 1997, at home after a brave and spirited fight with ovarian cancer.
She was a native of the Chuckatuck area of Suffolk and was a 1963 graduate of Chuckatuck High School. She graduated from Longwood College in 1967 and taught junior high school for many years in the Fredericksburg, Va., area. She later attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and graduated first in her class, obtaining a diploma in the field of interior design in 1993. Since 1993, she had worked as an interior design assistant for J. MacKenzie Venter's Architectural and Interior Design Firm in Fort Lauderdale.
She is survived by two sons, John Courtney Sheffield of Fort Collins, Colo., and Walter Alexander Sheffield of Radford, Va.; three sisters, Jacquelin Yates Cowles of Gwynn's Island, Va., Evelyn Yates Randolph and Carol Moore Hatfield, both of Virginia Beach; brother, James Alexander Moore of Suffolk.
She was predeceased by her father, Alex Moore; and mother, Dorothy Cox Moore.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Oakland Christian Church, Suffolk. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Care of Broward County Inc., 309 S.E. 18th St., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 33316. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
