James E. Modlin, 80, died June 10, 1997, in a local hospital.
Retired from the Norfolk Naval Base as a supervisor, he was a native of Jamesville, N.C., and had attended Laurel Ave. Church of Christ.
Survivors include a stepson, Joseph Oertli of Edgewater, Fla.; two brothers, Linwood J. Modlin Sr. of Norfolk, Carl Modlin of Plymouth, N.C.; a sister, Elizabeth Williams of Plymouth, N.C.; two stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Rupert R. Wallace. Burial will be private. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
