HOWARD P. DOWDY SR.

Howard Preston Dowdy Sr., 77, of the 1400 block of Linden Ave., died June 10, 1997, in Hampton.

A native of Portsmouth, he attended Calvary Temple Church of Norfolk. Mr. Dowdy was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II. He was a retired shipbuilder.

Survivors include his wife, Will-O May Francis Dowdy; a daughter, Brenda Nanette Dowdy Aemisegger of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, John Preston Aemisegger Sr. and Richard Paul Aemisegger, both of Chesapeake; two great-grandsons, John Preston Aemisegger Jr. and James Paul Aemisegger, both of Chesapeake. He was preceded in death by a son, Howard Preston Dowdy Jr.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Lamar Sentell. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 7:30 to 8:30 today and at the residence all other times. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Paralyzed Veterans of Wilton, N.H. 03086 or Feed the Children. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
