DELMA S. MOORE

Delma Smith Moore, 74, of the 500 block of Bunche Blvd., died June 16, 1997.

A native of Portsmouth and the widow of Elmo L. Moore Sr., she was a retired nurse for the Naval Regional Medical Center, Portsmouth. Mrs. Moore was a member of Fourth Baptist Church as a deaconess, missionary, director of Vacation Bible School, member of the senior choir and secretary of Sunday School. She was also a member of Retired Nurse's Association and affiliated with a number of other civic and community organizations.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Moore Davenport of Glen Burnie, Md., Joyce Moore Gray of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patricia Moore Cooper of Virginia Beach; a son, Elmo L. Moore Jr. of Portsmouth; two sisters, Doris Smith Green, Mary Smith Mouran, both of Portsmouth; a brother, Nathaniel Smith of New York; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Nathan Davenport and Lloyd Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Vivian Moore Porter.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Fourth Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Beamon. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
