RONALD F. BRADEN

Retired U.S. Navy MMI Ronald Franklin Braden, 59, died Sunday June 22, 1997, at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth.

Mr. Braden was born June 1, 1938, in Moundsville, W.Va., son of Michael Braden of Wheeling, W.Va., and the late Betty Daugherty Braden of Moundsville and his aunt, Ilene M. Daugherty of Moundsville.

He was a member of Limestone Presbyterian Church. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service, having served in the Navy recruiting office in Wheeling from 1974-1977. While living in Moundsville he was employed with Allied Chemical-Hanlin. After moving to Chesapeake he worked for Wal-Mart as the sporting goods department manager.

In addition to his father and aunt, survivors include his wife, Nila J. Braden; three daughters, Sheila K. Braden Berka of Tiltonsville, Ohio, Susan K. Braden Welsh of Norfolk, Kristina L. Braden of Chesapeake; three sisters, Karen S. Dawson Francis of Sidney, Ohio, Suzanne Braden Barry, Brenda Braden Evans, both of Wheeling; a brother, Michael W. Braden of Wheeling; a grandson, Forrest Nicholas Welsh of Norfolk.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ronald Wilfong officiating. Interment will follow in Limestone Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Limestone. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, is handling local arrangements.
