HAZEL S. WILLIAMS

Hazel S. Williams, 82, of the 400 block of Douglas Ave., died June 21, 1997, in a local nursing home.

Born in Mapleton, N.C. and the widow of Raymond L. Williams, she was a retired bookkeeper for W.T. Grant Dept. Store at Mid City Shopping Center. She was also a member of Western Branch Baptist Church, the Miriam Class of the church, and the Beazley Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Nell S. Ferrell and her husband, Tommy, of Elm City, N.C.; a son, Robert Stephenson of Portsmouth; two brothers, Richard W. Stephenson Sr. and his wife, Thelma B. of Portsmouth, Hoard Stephenson and his wife, Maiborne of Emporia, Va.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Evan A. Smith. Burial will be in Ahoskie Cemetery, Ahoskie, N.C. at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and also at 149 Monitor Road, Portsmouth at all other times.
