Josie Evans White, 81, of the 300 block of Old Merry Hill Road, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Bertie County, a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte W. Robertson of Colerain, Anna W. Graves of Melbourne, Fla., and Marion W. Earley of Windsor, N.C.; a son, Martin L. White of Sanford; a sister, Ruth E. Evans of Merry Hill; two brothers, J. Brinkley Evans of Merry Hill and Roland Evans of Chesapeake; eight granchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Merry Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph Knight. Burial will follow in Capehart's Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at 112 Cypress Road, Blackbeards Beach. Memorial gifts may be made to Merry Hill Baptist Church, Capeharts Baptist Church or Merry Hill-Midway Fire Department, all in Merry Hill, N.C. 27957.
