Eva Vashti Tynch Harrell of the 900 block of N. Broad St. and Britthaven, died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at Chowan Hospital.
She was born Feb. 20, 1906, in Chowan County, the daughter of Virginia Briggs and Charles Edward Tynch. She was the devoted wife of James Louis Harrell Sr., who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a longtime member of the Edenton Baptist Church and the Home Extension Club.
Surviving are her children, Joyce and Ray Hodge of Smithfield, N.C., Carolyn and Gerald Layden of Goldsboro, Louis and Brenda Harrell of Tyner; two sisters, Dollie Williford of Windsor, N.C., and Inez Delk of Hampton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Evans Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Word, the Rev. Ray Hodge and the Rev. Wayne Proctor officiating. Memorial gifts may be sent to Edenton Baptist Church, 200 S. Granville St., Edenton, N.C. 27932. Interment will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton.
