Miss Mamie Ellis Sawyer of the 900 block of Spotswood Ave. died Sunday, July 6, 1997, in her residence. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Annie Spruill and Leonard B. Sawyer.
Miss Sawyer retired after many years with Southern Railroad, then went to work for Atlantic Permanent Savings and Loan, where she retired after 22 years. She was a graduate of Maury High School, a member of Freemason St. Baptist Church and its Malmborg Class and was a former member of the Norfolk Woman's Club.
Survivors include a niece and nephew and several cousins.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery by Dr. Donald J. Dunlap. Cox Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
