ELLA W. REID

Ella W. Reid, 81, a native of Long Creek, N.C., in Pender County, who had made her home in Murfreesboro since 1942, died July 7, 1997.

Mrs. Reid was a retired teacher from the Northampton County School System. She received the honor of the teacher of the year for 1981-1982. She wa a member of the Northampton-Halifax Retired Teachers Association, NCAE and NEA. In her church, she had served as superintendent of Sunday School, director of Vacation Bible School, president of the senior choir, vice president of the Missionary Circle, treasurer of the Lydia Club and a member of the finance committee. She was also a member of Guiding Star Chapter No. 600 Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Lorenza Reid of Ellicott City, Md.; a sister, Lethia Haywood Boyd of Raleigh; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, including the Rev. Sidney W. Williams Jr., pastor of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Newport News.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Nebo Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Holloman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
