EUGENE D. HEDGE

Eugene D. Hedge, 72, of the 400 block of Gloucester Ave. went to be with the Lord July 12, 1997.

A native of Clarksburg, W.Va., he was predeceased by his parents, Clyde W. Hedge and Ruby Davis Hedge. He worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation and was a member of Alexander Baptist Church. He served the Lord with Bible studies and music at Lillian's Loving Care and the Emily Green Home. He was also an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn J. Hedge; two daughters, Jennifer Black Linville of Portsmouth and Penelope J. Slifka of Elmhurst, Ill.; two sisters, Glyndon Ellis of Santa Maria, Calif., and Nancy Pilkington of Portsmouth; two brothers, Gerald W. Hedge of Norfolk and Edmond Hedge of Portsmouth; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Alexander Baptist Church by the Rev. John Burr and Dr. Archie Corbin Jr. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
