BODY WASHES ASHORE AT OCRACOKE; SENT TO MEDICAL EXAMINER

A body was found Tuesday by an agent of the National Park Service and has been sent to the office of the state medical examiner for identification.

The body, which washed up near the island's guarded beach, has not been positively identified as a missing Raleigh teen-ager.

On Sunday, Staga Kearney, 17, was reported missing. He and a friend were swimming when Kearney was last seen nearly 80 yards offshore. The Coast guard ended its search for Kearney on Monday morning. KEYWORDS: UNIDENTIFIED BODY
